Capstone - QuickMath

QuickMath is a web application designed to help students practice math problems. It features a leaderboard, auditory feedback, and personal scores to encourage users to practice math problems. The application was built using Java, Spring Boot, and a MySQL database. The front end was built using Javascript, HTML, and CSS. The application was designed to be user-friendly and engaging, with a focus on gamification to encourage users to practice math problems.

Personal - GoChat

GoChat is a project I built as a way of learning Golang. It is a chatroom that can be connected to by other users on the network using a javascript web-client front end, a golang backend, and an sqlite database. It supports multiple clients and broadcasts messages to all connected users. The project helped me understand concurrency, networking, and Golang's goroutines and channels. All messages are saved locally on the server PC and populate the client when a user connects.

FRC 1807 - Jitterbug

Jitterbug was a robot designed to play the game "Rapid React" in the 2022 FIRST Robotics Competition. To achieve this, we used Java and the WPILib library to program the robot's functionalities. These functions include code to control the robot's movement, a camera to detect a target, ultrasonics for internal state detection/indexing, and a closed-loop control system for the robot's flywheel shooter.

Experiences

During my time at Brookdale Community College, I had classes in various subjects such as Java, Data Structures, low-level programming, System Analysis/Design, and database management. I also built multiple projects such as a Spring Boot website to help encourage my mom's 3rd grade students to practice math problems with gamified elements like a leaderboard, auditory feedback, and personal scores that drive users to repeatedly practice their math skills.

As an IT Intern at Van Cleef Engineering Associates I strengthened other skills, working with hardware and network issues. I developed a much stronger understanding of how servers and network systems work, troubleshooting problems end users had as well as writing scripts to automate repetitive work and building software solutions to streamline regular tasks for over 150 employees.
